We have been in series about Journey Music all week. So far we have shared some specific reasons why we play louder rock music in a concert-like environment. Here are a few more thoughts about the music:
We have a short song list at The Journey. We add about 10 new songs a year but also take 10 off the list. When we do new songs, we do them 5 times of 8 weeks.
You can listen to some of the songs we do on playlist.com. Here is the journey songs list.
We value language at The Journey. When we speak, sing or pray, we don't want to use church language that everyone won't understand. We don't do some songs because of this reason.
We have higher expectations for our musicians. Quality is important because we want to point people to Jesus, not distract them with wrong notes or poor musicianship.
There is a fine line between entertaining and engaging. We want to capture peoples attention and point them to Jesus without be showing.
We it comes to music, we have a clear vision. Purpose over preference.
