The number one issue at churches in music. Every pastor I have talked to, every church I have been to, it seems to be the biggest issue. The Journey isn't any different. We don't get a lot of complaints but over our 5 years, music is the top issue - just like every other church.
I think music is very personal and there is such a variety in musical tastes. There is just no way to hit everyones preference. So, this is one reason why we talk about purpose over preference for journeyers. For The Journey, we have very specific reasons we do what we do when it comes to music. You might not agree with it - as we said before - music is very personal and there is no way to please everyone. So, this series of post isn't to debate why we do what we do. It isn't something to try to pull you to my side (because I'm not arrogant about it - I don't think The Journeyers way is the only way. It's just in line with our vision). These posts are to inform you of our vision and to let you know why we do what we do. Communication can lead to understanding.
