Hope you are having a great holiday weekend full of family and fun. Here some of my highlights:
- Thursday for Thanksgiving we were at Steph's parents for lunch and at my dad at night. Lunch was so good. Here's our turkey. Steph makes her grandma's stuffing (& peanut butter fudge). It's amazing.
- Wednesday night we had a family tradition, our family thanksgiving journal. We have the kids write, color, draw things they are thankful for. It's fun to look back.
- This year we decided the best way to be thankful was to take on another compassion kid. This one is named Simon and he's from Kenya...that really suckered us in. We also have a little girl named Maria from Bolivia. We had Diego through a different program that ended.
- On Friday afternoon, we set up our Christmas decorations, another family tradition. We don't do a ton of things but we have our grown up tree (here) and a little tree for the kids. Our big tree is only 3/4 decorated. We didn't put things at Eli height. We put a few things up around the house and a few things outside.
- Emma woke up to the snow on Friday. Her face was priceless. She is so excited for winter and Christmas. She has a little tree with lights in her room, the Santa Mr. Potato Head, antlers on her stuffed animals, reindeer on her window and Christmas music playing as loud as possible. She is so excited. It makes the holidays fun.
- We just started listening to Christmas music today. New cd this year: Charile Brown Christmas - the jazz stuff on the show from the Vince Guaraldi Trio
- We didn't go shopping Friday morning - a broken tradition - we usual go with Steph's parents. They went to watch Lowell win the State Championship. Too hard to brave the crowds with two little kids. We did hit Old Navy last night about 6:30 pm. Not too busy.
- We went shopping this morning at Rivertown. There was nobody there. We were the only people in the Disney Store at 9 am. It started to pick up by in the early afternoon when we left. Here's part of the adventure and we can't leave the mall without doing this.
- Tomorrow - Skeptic at church in the morning and the Thanksgiving Worship & Communion Even at night.
Your turn: What was the highlight of your holiday weekend?
